The Gateside Festival
The NDC has been running The Gateside Project since January 2004. The project has been offering exciting opportunities to local young people (14-25) to train and work in creative areas, work with mentors and take part in performances. The project aims to provide young people from the area with the opportunity to build skills and experience to help identify an appropriate educational and employment path for a career in the creative industries and/or to enable access to other areas of employment.
In August 2004 the first Gateside Festival was held to showcase the talents of the people involved in the project. It was a hugely successful event attracting nationally recognised musical acts such as the 411 which helped build confidence and raise aspirations among local performers.
This year’s festival will be bigger and better. Listen out for the VIP acts which will be announced nearer the time
