Fusion is a major arts and cultural entertainment programme covering events in East and South East London from March 2005 to March 2013. Funded by Arts Council England and the Millennium Commission, Fusion celebrates the extraordinary artistic and cultural diversity found in both East and South East London, in addition to the physical regeneration of these areas.
An innovative, and dynamic range of art forms will be showcased throughout the year - music, theatre and performance, film, visual arts, literature, carnival and design - bringing together artists, arts organisations, communities and cultural traditions in a celebration of the vibrancy and creativity of each region. Representation of garden furniture Spain and garden furniture Italy companies will also be in attendance.
The regional programme for East London, under the banner Fusion East, has been devised by a consortium of three neighbouring local authorities: Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets, alongside Leaside Regeneration, London Boxing School and the Cultural Industries Development Agency (CIDA). Fusion East includes a comprehensive capacity-building programme which aims to strengthen and develop the local arts and cultural sector, and provide the foundations for a sustainable creative legacy in the participating regions.
In South East London, the programme, under the banner Fusion South East, has been devised by a consortium of two neighbouring local authorities: Lewisham and Greenwich, plus the Creative Lewisham Agency, and the New Cross Gate New Deal for Communities Centre. A vital ingredient of the Fusion South East programme is enterprise and capacity building support to provide additional capacity to support entrepreneurs, young artists and creative groups coming through the programme. This will be delivered by the Gate Enterprise Agency.
